Only 2 hours from Geneva you have Verbier, a known ski station in the Swiss Alps. And in the ski station, you have The Experimental Chalet, a hotel in the city center decorated by Milanese architect Fabrizio Casiraghi giving it a sense of arriving to a friend’s very stylish chalet.
Dim lights, lacquered wood, round lamps & cannage details make the interiors of this Alpine retreat unique.
Dear readers,
Welcome back to the blog, I am delighted to share with you our latest adventure in Switzerland, this time Verbier! It is not the first time we come here, we often come with friends. However, it is the first time we stay at The Experimental Chalet Verbier. We came here on their opening to the restaurant, and I remember a delicious cuisine & very very instagramable interiors.
Since we came, some things have changed; they re-worked the lobby to make it easier for guest to wait & lounge. And also they changed the color of the main restaurant room. But the vibe & atmosphere stays the same: relaxed, stylish & friendly.
COVID NOTE: We stayed in December 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are going to stay in this hotel in the near future, please call previously to have an update on the new current COVID regulations.
THE EXPERIMENTAL CHALET.
Located on the trendy ski station of Verbier, The Experimental Chalet is a 4-star hotel that brings the 50’s glamour back to the Swiss Alps. Their exquisite decor & luxurious cuisine makes this hotel unique of its kind.
With a fantastic location in the middle of the station, a cocktail bar & the famous Farm Club next to it, it is THE SPOT to hang around on a weekend during the winter holidays.
The Rooms.
The hotel is home of 39 rooms, with two suites overlooking the breathtaking view of the Alps. The selection of 39 rooms and suites, some with terraces, jacuzzis or panoramic views of the surrounding Alpines peaks and Mont Combin have a lovely atmosphere. Some with open spaces and natural light, the comfortable, minimalist design by Milanese architect Fabrizio Casiraghi is inspired by mid-century resorts, with deep jewel and sorbet tones, and lacquered wood.
We stayed in the Junior Suite 302, (link here) are around 34sqm and offer a separate cosy living-room, king size bed, soaking tub or shower. I love the bathroom with the white & blue tiles, and also the cozy livingroom part where I am currently writing this post!
The Breakfast.
The breakfast at the Experimental Chalet is a whole experience, next to their fireplace you can enjoy a selection of eggs, waffles and their generous buffet with viennoiseries , selection bread & confitures.
I had a fried egg with sausage & a delicious roiboos tea (or did I had two?) I was so happy to just take the time to have breakfast on my own that I stayed there editing my pictured of the trip and enjoying the unusual calm.
Food & Beverage outlets.
There is one restaurant & a cocktail bar (where the soul of the hotel lives) , depending on the ambiance or cravings you have.
FRENCHIE
Keeping their tradition of fresh, sustainably sourced dining, the Experimental Chalet includes a farm to table bistro by the revered Parisian chef Gregory Marchand. The dishes are generous and tasty, perfect for sharing after a nice day on the slopes.
The ambiance is festive-cozy with the signature round lamps with the hotel’s logo, the dimmed lights and the decadent plates. I personally would recommend to have the bacon scones & the duck with the caesar’s salad side dish & the bannoffee. (photos below)
COCKTAIL BAR
Located on the first floor of the Experimental Chalet, is the bar, a key destination for every Experimental Group property. They started with cocktails and it stays an important part of each of the group’s properties.
Serving our signature craft cocktails and an expert selection of wines and spirits, it is an ideal hideaway for “après-ski” get-togethers, pre-dinner apéritifs or as the launchpad for a late night. The open fireplace, the low ceiling & the long and elegant bar make you feel like entering a very secret place, with only the best cocktails prepared for you.
The Spa .
