W Verbier: Culinary Experience with Sergi Arola

One unique place,  one unique hotel  and one unique Master Chef…

VerbierW Verbier and Sergi Arola, all together in one evening to create an unforgettable experience. It was the first time I visited the hotel and also the first time I had the chance to eat at one of Sergi’s restaurants; so yes it was hard to come back to earth the morning after when I was driving to Geneva 🙂

Livingeneva was invited to be part of a unique culinary experience at the W Verbier Hotel at Arola Restaurant with Sergi Arola himself to host the Hunting Tasting Menu Dinner.

First, we prepared our own dessert which was an Apple Tarte Tatin! Sergi showed us how we had to do it and then taught us step by step how to prepare this delicious dessert, simple and super tasty recipe.

After our super cooking lesson we moved to our dinning table to start with the Hunting Tasting Menu. It is important to mention that in Switzerland the hunting season is a big deal and in almost every restaurant they prepare a special menu for this season (end Sept – en November) and in the menu they propose Gibier which are the animals from hunting (wild boar, pigeon, venison, woodcock, etc). LivinGeneva blog: W Verbier Sergi ArolaEvery course was better than the other….. my favourite (as usual) was the tartare, I guess I have this thing with raw meat! Below you will see the menu in pictures!

And to end the fabulous dinner we delighted our Apple Tarte Tatin with a Goat Cheese and Thyme ice-cream. I was very lucky to have the nicest one, Sergi made it himself and I was the one who go it (shhhh).

We accompanied our tasteful menu with wines from the Valais region, for white we had Fendant Balavaud Grand Cru 2013 (Jean-René Germanier) and for red we had Baroq 2011 (Jean-René Germanier) which was excellent!

NOTE: In one of you stays at the W Verbier do not hesitate to ask the W insider to book a visit to the Jean-René Germanier domain that is in the valley downhill of Verbier. The evening passed by super fast and before we realised it, we were having a cocktail at the W Living Room  talking about hotels, events, restaurants and Michelin Star chefs… A memorable night with amazing company. I had the pleasure to meet Daniel Lopez a super talented photographer (and he is Mexican too!) and Martin the creative director of Eyes Magazine;  all of this possible thanks to Martine  and Monica (W insider) from the W Verbier! Thank you ladies for this great experience!
