Spa: Grand Hotel Kempinski

A visit to the Spa should be part of our monthly calendar, with our Hamster lives as I call it (we run run run until we forget why we are running for, get me 😉 ? ), we never have time for a BREAK, and when I mean break I mean a real break. One thing is taking a Coffee break, or a lunch break, or maybe a Swim Break or a Shopping Break. But the later involve A-C-T-I-V-I-T-Y from your side, you either have to move, eat or spend calories to achieve them; but when was the last time you spend some time on YOU really YOU and only YOU? Not a piece of cloth or a portion of cake, but just spend time on you and your body’s health and equilibrium.

From my side I can tell you that I do not remember the last time I did it, so I guess it is a bad sign… I guess we feel guilty on spending money on “something” that will not last, but in my personal opinion it is 10 times more worth it than the Starbucks you just had this afternoon. If you think about it, if you save around 10 coffees you can already spend this money in a worthwhile treatment at a Spa. Kempinski Spa Treatment Room copy

I was very happy to test the Kempinski Spa the other day, since it made me remember how important it is to spend some time in ourselves and with ourselves, of course a couple’s Spa trip or friends is also fun; but going there by yourself makes it a completely different experience.

The Kempinski’s Spa is the biggest in Geneva, with 1,400 sq m of facilities, you really get lost in it! Their 20 sqm  pool is the  largest covered hotel pool in the region. They have 12 treatment cabins including a double one for couples, friends or why not a mother and daughter spa-day! The rage of treatments they offer is amazing and the facilities are first class! I tried the HydroFacial treatment for intense Hydration that is highly recommended when the Summer is over and our skin has suffered from abusive sun, salty seas and chlorine pools (oops guilty of charge!). In order to make this treatment they use a machine that makes mini suctions to your skin and at the same time add the products to your face; it is kind of funny at the beginning since you feel like the machine gives you little kisses 🙂

They apply several products depending on your skin needs, the season and also your request; it works as an exfoliator, hydrator and cleaner (since it takes out the dead skin and pollutants in your face). At the end of the treatment you can even see all the things they removed from your face (yuck!). IMG_1660 copy

To end the treatment with a golden broch   I had the collagen mask (additional 60 chf) that left my skin as a baby face! The perfect way to finish the treatment, because it will give you the boost and hydration that you need.

My skin felt very very happy after the HydroFacial treatment  and I can tell you that the effect lasted for a long time, I suffer from dry skin and this gave me the boost I needed to face the winter.

If you are looking for a BREAK but not really a treatment, you can access the facilities with 100CHF per day and go to the fitness, swim some laps and enjoy their hammam which   will also calm your wild spirits! I think this is a great escape during the winter time, will I see you there?Spa Reception copy
