I wanted to share my experience at the Rencontre des Chefs 2016, held at the Beau-Rivage Geneva last March 14th. It was the first time I attended this type of event and I was very glad to discover the concept. This is the 4th edition of LRDC, the concept is mainly to gather talented chefs around one single event in order to discover them and their cooking through 2 dishes (starter and main). I reassure you, they are very small portions 🙂
This time we had the honor to meet 5 Michelin Star Chefs, all based in Switzerland! I had already heard about all of them and certainly I had heard about the hotels that host their restaurants. I will present each of them and the dishes they shared with us during the evening.
If you like to discover new cuisines and are interested in talking to chefs and sharing stories, it is a unique opportunity. I felt so honored to be able to talk to all of them, exchange some words, stories, pictures and food (of course!) and discover more about their restaurant and inspirations. I even got some autographs :O!!
Starter –Beef Tartare with cabbage and sunflower seeds Main – Salmon trout, with beetroot, raifort and fresh cream.
Impressions: After reading a little about his cuisine I discovered that he only uses local Swiss products to create his dishes, this is remarkable taking into consideration that it is a small country and that during some season it is not easy to find everything available.
Starter – Broad Whitefish from the Leman Lake marinated in citrus fruits, with artichoke and barigoule carrot. (Barigoule is a way of cooking the carrot not a type of carrot) Main – Truffle tortellinini, old parmesan and mizuna salad.
Impressions: We can feel the South in his dishes with the type of cooking and the use of ingredients like artichoke and truffle and also the local influence of the Broad Whitefish. NOTE – I am very excited to go there in the upcoming month!
Dominique Gauthier (Host Chef!)
Our dear Dominique Gauthier was there surprising everyone with his unique cuisine. In case you did not know he is the head Chef of Le Chat Botté restaurant at the Beau Rivage Geneva.

What did he cook?
Starter – Black soft boiled egg, green asparagus and truffle spaghetti. – My ♥ of the night. Main – Black cod, Black radish, miso sauce
Impressions: It is definitely not the first time I try his cuisine, and I have to be honest that it is always impeccable! Not only the marriage of the flavors, but also the presentation and the originality is spectacular. Never disappointed with Dominique Gauthier.
I had an amazing night, even if it was Monday and it was hard to wake up the next day 😉 LOL. No, really it is totally worth it, I would 100% recommend it to anyone loving food and also willing to meet talented and passionate chefs. Thanks to the event I was able to meet personally the chefs and being more curious about their restaurants and cooking, and I hope I will be able to organize some trips to visit their establishments!
