It has been a while since I am teasing you over my instagram about the InterContinental Genève right? Well finally here it is, the waited article about their spa, their pool and their rooms! Placed between the United Nations square and the Leman Lake, this 18 story icon has been part of Geneva’s history since 1964. From heads of state to ambassadors, passing by movie stars and renowned athletes, many famous people have chosen this hotel for one reason, the Oasis environment you feel when you walk in.
My favourite part of the hotel is definitely the Pool and not so far behind is the SPA by Clarins! It is the ideal spot to spend a Sunday were most things are closed in Geneva and we feel like pampering ourselves!
With 336 sqm of clear water surrounded by greens, the Intercontinental Pool makes me want to stay there all day and not do anything else! You can enjoy this city Oasis even if you are not a guest in the hotel, all details will be at the end of the post.
There is The Poolside, the restaurant next to the pool that has a great beef carpaccio and a fresh green gaspacho. All the menu is adapted to summer and pool environment, with grills every day, hamburgers and fresh deserts! I tried thePineapple skewer flavoured with Sechuan pepper and piña colada ice cream, which is the perfect companion of a hot day!
The Spa by Clarins
Located in the second floor of the hotel, the spa is open to public too (and opens on Sundays!), so it is the perfect partner of a day by the pool. Their best treatments are facials and since it is a cosmetic brand you can really trust them with your face :). They only use Clarins products, which can be a yai or nah for some of you, it really depends if you like the brand. Personally it is a brand that I really like and use often, they have such a big range of products that for sure you will find one adapted to your skin type.
Not only you can do a facial there, but you can also do manicures, pedicures, epilation, massages, and they even do make up and tanning shower. They have a great selection of Men treatments too!
PLUS: You can buy all the range of products there with personalised help depending on your needs. I love their suncare line!
The Woods Restaurant
Located in the ground floor on the left side of the lobby area, the woods restaurant welcomes guests for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch! They have a lovely terrance that can be great during warmer days to eat outside.
The Brunch is served from 12h00 – 15h00 every Sunday in the restaurant, there is a hot and cold buffet, live carving stations and a sumptuous choice of desserts prepared by the Pastry Chef Julien Malanska! Claiming as one of the best brunchs in town it is now on my Brunching 2 Do list.
I have not had the chance to stay in the hotel yet, but I had the fortune to visit all the rooms (including the suites) and I can tell you that they are fabulous. They are all decorated by Toni Chi too and even the first category looks comfortable, spacious and practical.
I love the detail of the real orchids and black and white pictures framed, it is such a cute thing!
As you climb up the categories you will see more and more amazing surprises, Nespresso machine, marble bathrooms and more living space. As you climb up the floors you will see better the Jet d’Eau and the lake view, which is unique in Geneva. The hotel has a unique feature which is the 360°C view of Geneva being one of the highest points in the city; this translates into stunning views from the Mont Blanc, Leman Lake, Jura, Mont Saleve and all the way to Lausanne.
Resuming all of the above, the Intercontinental Geneva is a great hotel tastefully decorated by New York designer Toni Chi. It has a different location than all the other hotels in Geneva, where most of the hotels are located in the lake front, the Intercontinental is 10 min away from the Perle du Lac, leaving us to discover another side of the city. Which makes it the perfect hotel to stay in when going to the United Nations or an exposition at Palexpo. Plus it is amazingly connected to the public transport having their own Bus stop “InterContinental” is kind of a huge deal isn’t it?
If you are a local and do not know what do in a hot Sunday summer, pop-up to the Intercontinental to chill by the pool. Have a cocktail made my the winner of the Bartender contest Diageo, Olivia Hairay and let yourself enjoy a quality time in this city’s oasis. In case it is a cloudy day, pamper yourself in their Spa by Clarins, enjoy the Brunch and relax in their lobby with a Cafe Gourmand next to one of their chimneys.
I hope to see you there one day!
