2015 Started with a little bit of sport and energy (of course after all I ate during Christmas and New Year’s Eve); I went for a walk to La Givrine with my family.
La Givrine is a cross-country skiing paradise, it is located in the Jura Mountain approximately 1hr from Geneva. It is a great place to go for a day and enjoy the sun and snow! You do not have to ski if you do not like to, you can walk or use snowshoes and enjoy the magnificent scenery this place has to offer.
The departure of the slopes (either walking, cross-country or snowshoes) is the train station of La Givrine, from there you can walk approximately 3 km to the Refuge of Le Vermeilley to have lunch (fondue, soups, etc) or just a tea or coffee. The path is very well signalized, so there is no risk of getting lost.
If you are more sporty, you can try the cross-skiing and adventure on the kilometers of slopes they have there. You can follow the signs of La Fruitière de Nyon and appreciate one of the most beautiful views of the Swiss-French Alps!
What I love about this daytrip is that it can be done also during the summer and walk all around the region and enjoy the forest adventure; also it can be reached easily on train and car, and it is next door to Geneva.
I hope you enjoy this special place as much as I do! Have fun in the snow!
Address: La Givrine, Saint-Cergue, Switzerland! Map
Train stop: La Givrine

How to get there? : By car from Geneva follow Lausanne and then go out in the Nyon exit and follow Saint-Cergue, after passing Saint-Cergue keep going up until you reach the train station of La Givrine.
By Train from Geneva, take a train that stops in Nyon (Trains goinf to Lausanne often stop in Nyon) and then make the change to the small red train climing up to La Givrine and it will leave you right where the slopes start.
