Staying at the Crans Ambassador

Staying at the Crans Ambassador 5*

Hello dears,

Welcome back to the blog! Today I want to take you Crans-Montana and more specifically to the Crans-Ambassador; a 5 star hotel located in the highest part of the station.

We went there for the first time 3 years ago, and we have returned every year ever since. The hotel has the perfect balance between luxury and comfort. It is beautiful, modern  and spacious without being too much;  what I would define as smart luxury.

You can check my IGTV of the weekend here!

I love so many things about this hotel, an amazing feature is the ski slopes at 5 minutes walking and their ski shop that takes care of your material when you arrive!

Hotel

The hotel is part of a Swiss Hotel group called Victoria Jungfrau. As soon as you enter you have the most amazing view on the Swiss alps and their terrace is waiting for you with a hear warming fire.

The lobby is the 7th floor of the hotel,  together with their panoramic terrace, the lobby bar and the ski shop!

Rooms

All the rooms have a cozy and modern design with everything you need. You can really feel that the rooms have been well integrated, there is a lot of room for storage, and all the elements are practical and comfortable.

The bathroom is integrated between the entrance and the bedroom and has a beautiful bathtub that just screams your name!

We were lucky to stay in a room with Mountain View, so the room is also had a balcony with a panoramic view on Crans-Montana and the alps!

The Breakfast

Breakfast for me is one of the most important things in a hotel and even in a day in general. I love when hotels have a wide variety of products to offer for breakfast!

At the Crans-Ambassador there are a lot of delicious things! The first year I remember we had the breakfast in the room once and this time we had it in the restaurant. Both are fantastic!

The have from fruits, to cereals, to ham & cheese and scrambled eggs! I wish I could have this type of breakfast everyday!

Breakfast at Crans-Ambassador

The Spa

Their amazing spa is located on the 5th floor. It is  Nescens just like the one at La Réserve in Geneva ! They have one of the best cosmetic lines in Switzerland and have several locations around Europe.

Last year I had the chance to try one of their massages and it was a dream!

The pool is really big and is not like a jacuzzi type of pool, it is more like a real pool, you can actually swim in it. Then they have the hammam, sauna and relaxation area which is next of the pool (no children under 16 allowed) that is very nice and the atmosphere is zen. They offer herbal tea and lemon water, nice touch.

There is also a huge fitness with a sick view in the alps and Montana in general that actually make you want to go to the gym…. just maybe. The only thing missing is an outside jacuzzi, I really love when ski resorts have an outside heated water facility, it makes the whole experience very magical.

The Terrace:

Suspended in mid-air this terrace has a view to take your breath away! In the afternoon they serve delicious crepes and you can enjoy a beer or a hot chocolate!

Just look at the photos!

My 2019 Swiss Bucket List

2019 Swiss Bucket List

Hello dears,

First of all Happy New Year 2019! I really wish you lots of happiness

For this year I want to share with you my personal Swiss Bucket list. I am hoping to do them all this year, so clearly I need to start planning!

Last year I shared 5 amazing hotels to add to your 2018 bucket list

Switzerland is such a beautiful country that is worth visiting and discovering it! From Geneva it is easy to move by train, car, boat or bike (!!) from one place to another. In Switzerland we have many natural landscapes, stunning hotels and memorable gastronomic experiences, here are some I would love to do this year:

My 2019 Swiss Bucket List – 12 places I want visit this year!

1.- Lake Blausee

I discovered this Swiss Paradise from scrolling on instagram for Swiss inspiration and became obsessed with it! This year I am dreaming of visiting this place and maybe have a shoot there!

2.-  Aescher Restaurant & hike !

It is on all the lists of “things to see in Switzerland” and yet I haven’t been yet! I would love to visit this place and the beautiful views it offers!

This has been one of the most visited places in Switzerland since it was on a National Geographic cover!

3.- Stay at Hotel 7132

This hotel has been on my list for a very very long time and I decided to just do it this year! They are located literally in the middle of Switzerland and has a stunning architecture, beautiful design and known for great service! Who does not dream to wake up in the middle of Swiss Nature!

5.-  St. Moritz

I am going to tell you a secret … I have never set foot on St. Moritz! I know… shame on me. I have just haven’t had the chance and it is not like you can hop on a train and get there. I takes 6hrs by car and 7 by train, so it is better to plan longer than a weekend there. Fingers crossed soon you will se a post like the one below on my feed!

6.-  Spend a night at Chetzeron Hotel

You know how much I love Crans-Montana! We go there almost every year, and I used to live there when I was a student. However, I have never had the chance to stay in this stunning and unique hotel in the middle of the slopes, you go to sleep in the middle of the snow and wake up to the most wonderful view!

7.-  Visit Lac de Joux

At 1:30 min from Geneva you have the biggest natural skating rink in Switzerland and Europe. When the winter comes the lake freezes and it becomes a winter wonderland!  Equipment is available for hire in Le Sentier or Le Pont during the busy period.

8.-  Visit Interlaken and stay at the Victoria Jungrauf

Interlaken is considered one of the most beautiful regions of Switzerland with breathtaking views of the lakes and mountains surrounding the landscape! I would love to visit the region and stay in the legendary Victoria Jungfrau hotel!

9.-  Have dinner at Domaine de Châteauvieux

One of the few Two Michelin Stars in Switzerland is not far away from Geneva, it is actually in the canton! Philippe Chevrier is the chef of  Domaine de Chàteauvieux and his cuisine is known to be amazing! So it is more than obvious that it should be on me bucket list of this year!

Weekend Getaway: Montreux

Hello dear readers!

I wanted to share with you an amazing R-O-M-A-N-T-I-C weekend getaway idea that I just lived with my husband. We were looking for a close destination to celebrate our second wedding anniversary and we decided to go to Montreux!

Why Montreux?

  1. It is 1h20 min from Geneva by train.
  2. Immediate vacation feeling
  3. Stunning views
  4. You have Le Montreux Palace (with SPA!!)
  5. Great restaurants and bars close by

Fairmont Le Montreux Palace

Le Montreux Palace is worldwide know for hosting all the VIP of the Montreux Jazz Festival every year. For me it was the first time I stepped inside this marvelous Palace to discover its hidden treasures, spacious hallways and breathtaking views. It is really a Riviera Landmark and makes part of all this glamour of the Leman Lake!

We arrived around 4pm to the hotel, we were very nicely welcomed. The staff is super attentive and are very smiley and friendly all the time.

Room 515

We stayed in Room 515 which is a Deluxe room with lake view (if you are coming here you HAVE  to choose lake view, totally worth it). Even if it was not the best weather, it was still a very nice view! The room is very spacious, with places to accommodate all of your belongings. There is a small living area, a desk, a big closet and the bathroom with bath & shower.

We had the lovely surprise of finding this in our room!!! Such a beautiful detail!! Thank you!!

Restaurant des Trois Couronnes (1* Michelin Star)

Our wedding anniversaries are leaded by Michelin Star Restaurants! That is how we chose the destination. I met Lionel Rodriguez the One Michelin Star chef of the restaurant in La Rencontre des Chefs at the Beau Rivage earlier, and it made me want to discover more of his cuisine.

The restaurant des Trois Couronnes is settled in the Hotel des Trois Couronnes in Vevey (literally 10 min away from Montreux) in direction of Geneva. The restaurant has a particular antique decoration with painting in the walls and ceilings. The tables are are placed facing the lake and are covered with white table cloths, beautiful flowers and the usual mise-en-place.19. Geneva Blog- Weekend Getaway Montreux

We decided to go a little crazy and pop the champagne and order the full discovery menu with the wines accordingly. The 6-course-menu is well balanced, had varied ingredients and made us discover Chef Rodriguez cuisine.

Grilled beef ribsteak with tomato juice, swiss chard and peas mille feuilles

The menu is 240 CHF per person with the according wines. In general the cooking was really good in taste. For some reason we had a very long wait between the fish and the meat, and they apologised for the delay. They catch-up with the desert that was an amazing strawberry soufflé that was accompanied with an extraordinary champagne  Cuvee Louise Pommery 1999.

After a 6-course-menu we actually did not felt overexploded, the portions are proportioned and we were able to finish everything.

Funky Claude’s Bar

After the restaurant we went back to the hotel and could not resist to have a drink at Funky Claude’s Bar. It is located in the ground floor of the Montreux Palace and it is specialized in creating and elaborating amazing cocktails.

Pepito + Boulevardier

Pepito + Boulevardier

They have live music every evening from Thursday to Saturday, the vibe is obviously Jazzy- prohibition-era-old-style with a lot of wood, thousands of bottles in the walls, a central bar, barmans dressed with bowties and shakers shakking here and there. There is a scene in the back with a singer chanting known melodies and the cocktails are FABULOUS! I had a Pepito and hubby had a Boulevardier, both excellent!

Congratulations to the barman! We could see the passion he had for the mixology and the broad knowledge in the subject! Thank you for sharing this!

Happy kids!

Willow Stream Spa

After a good night sleep we had a quick mini breakfast in our room (we certainly did not wanted to eat too much) and headed directly to the Spa.  The Spa is situated in the gardens of the Palace with a stunning view of the Leman Lake and the Alps.

What a better way to detox from the week and get ready for a new day than a session in the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. There is a huge indoor pool and a jacuzzi facing the gardens open all year and an outside pool open during summer time.

If you are looking for a little sport there is also a 300sqm fitness room very well equipped!

THE BRUNCH

After our little Spa session we headed to the Legendary Montreux Palace Brunch! I was not expecting such a majestic display! I wanted to make an important emphasis to the Brunch since it is simply mind blowing! From hot to cold station passing by carving station, cold cuts, cheese cart, desserts, pasta-a-la-minute, eggs, juices, fruits, ice-cream and chocolate fountain… you have it all! It is worth the detour and even a back and forth from Geneva only for the brunch 😉

Special parents note: They take care of the kids while your brunch… for free!!

Lucky for me Chef Patrice Grappe was there supervising every minor detail and I was able to approach him so he explained every station, his favorites and even gave me some tips on food photography! I was very pleased to meet him and congratulate him personally for this unforgettable brunch!

After almost getting into a food-coma we had to take the hard decision of coming back to Geneva 🙁 , it was still raining (it rained all weekend unfortunately) and it seemed the sky was as sad as us to be leaving this beautiful Palace.

Lucky me it is only 1h20 from Geneva and I hope I will be coming back sooner than later!

Hope you enjoyed the post! I will be posting separate articles of the restaurant and hotel with more details, this is really a general impression!

Kisses!
